Neon is a cat who likes her space and will come to you on her own terms. She is our longest kitty resident and has been here for over 600 days! She is a very sweet girl and likes the occasional attention. Neon is almost 2 years old and came in as just a little kitten. She likes to play and lounge about in her hammock and watch birds and bugs through the window! Come in and meet Neon, you might just fall in love with her beautiful, big amber eyes!Puppies 6 months and under are typically $200 and dogs from 7 months to 6 years are typically $100.00. The adoption fee may be higher or lower than stated however, and is dependent on many factors including age, behavior, medical condition and demand. All dogs 7 years and older are free under our Saving Seniors program. We frequently run discount specials and occasionally a dog will be more than the stated fee.Most cats and kittens are $35.00, however there may be instances in which the fee is higher or lower, due to age, behavior, medical condition or demand. With felines, we always have an "Adopt one, bring another one home for free" adoption special!Adoption processOur current adoption fee for dogs over 6 months is $85 and up. Puppies under 6 months are $100 and all cats and kittens are $35. Occasionally, we have reduced fees based on the shelter population. Cats and kittens are currently two for one adoption fee. This fee includes worming, age appropriate vaccinations, micro-chipping (for dogs), and basic spay/neuter costs. All animals will be spayed or neutered before going home.You may pay our adoption fee and do an adoption questionaire over the phone by calling 828-682-XXXX.Shelter locationYancey County Humane Society 962 Cane River School Road Burnsville, NC 28714. Hours: 12 till 5 on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. 12 till 4 on Saturday. Closed Wednesday and Sunday.
